What Is Autism
Autism (ASD) is also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder. What is known about this is that it includes a wide range of conditions. These include challenges with repetitive behaviors, social skills, nonverbal skills, and speech. Also, there is not just one type of autism, but many sub-types. Sub-types are influenced by genetic as well as environmental factors. Because this is a spectrum disorder it creates different challenges for each individual. It affects how each individual learns, thinks, and develops problem-solving skills. Some cases are mild while others are severe and often completely disabling. Support levels vary and many may never develop life skills to be able to live independently.
Along With Autism Come Other Challenges and Conditions
Anxiety, seizures, and other disorders often accompany autistic individuals. Many also develop mental health problems, and these factors can influence the development of autism. Often the signs and symptoms don’t appear until around the age of 2 or 3. However, autism can occur in children as young as 18 months. Like many other disorders, early intervention is key to better outcomes that can create life-changing results later in life! Teaming Up To Raise Autism Awareness
Tony Mantor and Plateau Music team up with Autism Speaks to help raise money for Children with Autism! Tony is an American Singer/ Songwriter, and producer located in Nashville, TN. I read an article online about a Music Label teaming up with one of the largest charity organizations that help people with autism. So, I read further and it just so happened to be someone I know and yes, I would like to help.
Tony’s current work includes producing and working with established legendary artists as well as developing new artists.
This charity also helps the family members to care for their loved ones. Autism speaks also focuses on helping to give the family caregivers tools to achieve better outcomes into adulthood! Plateau Music partnered with Autism Speaks with a goal of raising $250,000 over the next year to donate and assist those in need. I met Tony in 1997 through a mutual friend and had the pleasure of getting to know him and his family.
